Shenandoah Valley (of Ca.)

Tonight I’m posting a few images from the Shenandoah Valley. The Shenandoah Valley is what we like to call a viticultural area. Famous for it’s vineyards. The Shenandoah Valley stretches through both El Dorado and Amador Counties of California and is a destination for wine lovers and sightseers.  Only an hour from my West Sacramento home base. These images are relatively dated (≈ 6 weeks old) but still fresh in my mind. I can’t imagine much has changed in the last few weeks. It’s probably even more beautiful, greener and with the vineyards blooming out. So, I’m a little behind as usual. Images about six weeks old. Then again, I’m just getting to edit them. I tend to post as I edit so I’ll forever be lagging some. No matter…  Mostly these images are from Amador County…

Shockingly Red Tulips

It’s a great little loop you can take and it’s especially good on a weekday when the crowds aren’t out and about…

Just coming into bloom

There’s a winery for every taste. My taste is more along the lines of sightseeing and looking for photo ops of which there are many…

Pre-bloom drama

It’s a little difficult to pull over and while driving as the roads are rather narrow. Always best to pull into one of the many wineries or (As in the case above) a flower farm and get out and walk around with your camera a while. Take your time and look around. There are photographs to be had everywhere…

One of my favorite oak trees anywhere in Amador County

So with that said, get your google map out and view the Shenandoah Valley in California. These photos are only a sampling of what you will see in the area. I suggest you take a look at Flickr as well if you are so inclined. I post there as well and many photographers visit the area. It’s beautiful. Enjoy!_DSC3852_wp_1
